UN manipulated into the greatest diamond “price-fixing” cartel ever.<\/h2>\n

The\u00a0failure of mainstream media, particularly Namibia’s, to report the\u00a0truth about Oppenheimer\/De Beers diamond activities requires a\u00a0response.<\/span><\/p>\n

The\u00a0establishment of the \u201cKimberley Process\u201d is the result of\u00a0Oppenheimer\/De Beers application of years of refined manipulative and intimidating\u00a0stratagems. Particularly employed after the UN investigation into ‘blood\u00a0diamonds’ to\u00a0get the United Nations and particularly those African diamond\u00a0producing countries mentioned to sing along in a\u00a0\u201cKimberley\u00a0Process\u201d,\u00a0for clean diamonds.<\/span><\/p>\n

The process also serves beautifully to elevate and perpetuate Oppenheimer\u2019s control of diamonds internationally, whilst evading criminal charges related to illegal diamond trading, theft and fraud and the \u201cblood diamond stigma\u201d – a main contributor to the diamond war in Angola, during 1992.<\/span><\/p>\n

The\u00a0\u201cKimberly\u00a0Process\u201d\u00a0organisation has been\u00a0conceived\u00a0out of sin and is cemented in \u201cblood diamonds\u201d.\u00a0It is not an organisation that the United Nations and civil society\u00a0should find\u00a0itself associated with if it knew the facts. Why should\u00a0Oppenheimer be allowed to perpetuate his diamond monopoly, and be\u00a0immune against prosecution under European legislation governing\u00a0international corporate practice?\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

At\u00a0present the following cases appear to place them above the law and\u00a0just ridicule formal establishments.<\/span><\/p>\n

In\u00a01992\u00a0in\u00a0London\u00a0the NBC (Namibian Broadcasting Corporation), at the occasion of the\u00a0visit of the Prime Minister of Namibia to Oppenheimer\u2019s offices in\u00a0London, recorded on video a\u00a0weekly consignment of illegally mined\u00a0Angolan\u00a0diamonds valued at US$14 million.\u00a0These buying agents (Steinmetz, Arslanian fr\u00e8res, Lazare\u00a0Kaplan-Tempelsman) of De Beers fled Angola,\u00a0robbing that\u00a0country in taxes and now operate in Namibia.<\/span><\/p>\n

American\u00a0authorities\u00a0had already become aware of De Beers (representatives) corporate\u00a0strategies to fix prices on industrial diamonds in\u00a01991\/2.\u00a0Subjected to arrest if they set foot in the\u00a0United States, it\u00a0took until 2004 for De Beers to acknowledge US\u00a0jurisdiction and plead guilty <\/a>to the charges in federal court in\u00a0Ohio Columbus. (https:\/\/www.justice.gov\/archive\/atr\/public\/press_releases\/2004\/204592.htm<\/a>).<\/span><\/p>\n

At\u00a0the same time, another illegal African diamond operation (the Pearson\u00a0operation), executed from\u00a0Johannesburg\u00a0by\u00a0Brigadier Knoessen, Chief Security Consultant for Anglo American and\u00a0De Beers, and run in conjunction with the diamond police in Cape Town\u00a0and Namibia, was operating in\u00a0Windhoek\u00a0buying illegal diamonds from Angola.<\/span><\/p>\n

In\u00a0July 1993 complaint was made concerning these illegal\u00a0activities, which included rhino horn and elephant tusks, with\u00a0the Chief of Police in Namibia (Gold and Diamond Branch) with legal representation.\u00a0The complaint was not investigated, but\u00a0instead on the 17th August 1993, the following co-conspirators met to\u00a0devise a false counter charge and conviction against the\u00a0complainants, engineered by De Beers Executives Robert Abel Gower,\u00a0Trevor Stacey and Roger Burchell, the Prosecutor General Hans Heyman,\u00a0Commissioner A.T.C.Nel from the Security\u00a0Police, and members of the\u00a0judiciary, Adv. Danie Small and Adv. K. Miller to conceal\u00a0De Beers\u00a0illegal diamond buying and\/or theft of diamonds.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Another\u00a0fraudulent diamond trapping case, engineered to eliminate De Beers\u00a0critic Gordon Brown came before the same Judge (Nic Hannah),\u00a0where jail terms were given, when he relied on a\u00a0single\u00a0State witness, who subsequently in a sworn statement before a\u00a0Windhoek magistrate (obtained by a private investigator from England)\u00a0that the evidence on which the conviction was\u00a0made, was fabricated.<\/span><\/p>\n

The\u00a0Scottish Sunday times understands how\u00a0it\u00a0suffered\u00a0when\u00a0it exposed in an article written by written by Michael Gilhard\u00a0the truth about Browns ordeal with which justice was being\u00a0dispensed\u00a0in Namibia where it has to do with Oppenheimer family \u2013 the Key\u00a0Financial\u00a0Beneficiary to the wealth of the country,<\/span><\/p>\n

This\u00a0window into the illegal operations being conducted in 1992 by\u00a0Oppenheimer’s companies came at a time when in\u00a01993,\u00a0the\u00a0Security\u00a0Council\u00a0adopted\u00a0resolution\u00a0864\u00a0of 1993,\u00a0concerning\u00a0the devastating situation in\u00a0Angola.\u00a0What exactly the facts are before the Security Council is not known,\u00a0but the effect illegal diamond revenues was having on creating \u201cthis\u00a0devastating\u00a0situation in Angola\u201d was a hot public issue. It took 5\u00a0years for a team to assemble before an investigation could begin and\u00a0during this time De Beers and those mentioned above continued in\u00a0the\u00a0illicit trade and “only” bought\u00a0US$80m\u00a0in\u00a01995.\u00a0When the UN investigating team reached Namibia it was lame, local\u00a0police operatives working with Oppenheimer\u2019s companies were\u00a0included\u00a0in the team. This reflects very poorly on the\u00a0Security\u00a0Council and the United Nations\u00a0sincere efforts in the first place.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The\u00a0evidence from the Namibian police dockets, exposes the longstanding,\u00a0illegal influence, and close cooperation between the police,\u00a0judiciary, the prosecution and Oppenheimer\u2019s\u00a0employees, who have,\u00a0conspired to prosecuted and convicted people on false evidence and in\u00a0this way are never prosecuted and thus are able to continue operating\u00a0“above” the law..<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0In\u00a02003, De Beers manipulative strategies and actions were\u00a0revealed when the\u00a0Namibian\u00a0Government\u00a0attempted to compare the international diamond price with the price\u00a0of US$150\/carat it\u00a0was receiving from De Beers at the time, by\u00a0executing its right to do so in terms of\u00a0section\u00a058\/9 of the\u00a0Diamond Act.\u00a0The Government pursued an 18-month struggle and eventually got a\u00a0Presidential Cabinet resolution past and subsequent action letter\u00a0issued to the Minister to sell the diamonds, but persistent threats, bribery and\/or blackmail by Oppenheimer\u2019s\u00a0New\u00a0York\u00a0associate Maurice Tempelsman undermined the State and the sale came\u00a0to nothing. Namibia\u00a0now loses hundreds of dollars per carat, on\u00a0which duty would be\u00a0calculated and accrue to both the State and the people of Namibia. This action excluded\u00a0international diamond companies from bidding on Namibian diamonds.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0Many victims of Oppenheimers illegal activities survive carrying false convictions and very few can put up a defense against this secretive family cartel, while they have the police and other government members in their pockets. Assistance to bring them before accountable Courts of Law in Namibia, Europe, America and England is needed. Because the Namibian government is compromised and not in a position to dispense justice on these crimes. <\/span><\/p>\n

The British High Commission(BHC) in Windhoek, Namibia, was requested to indicate why Consolidated Diamond Mines (CDM) and\/or De Beers Financial Services and\/or any director or employee of the said companies, in particular Mr. Oppenheimer (Headquartered in London), should not be prosecuted for these crimes. The High Commissioner confirmed in writing that the Foreign and Commonwealth Office in London had received the request. In 2005 another letter from the BHC shed no light on the request and simply raises the question to what extent is the British Government influenced on these diamond matters ? From whence cometh the birth of De Beers, so cometh the name of the \u201cKimberly Process\u201d.<\/span><\/p>\n

A De Beers stratagem is orientated entirely on self-interest and protection against prosecution \u2013 now policing itself on an international level.\u00a0 A corporate achievement after 100 years of world dominance in the exploitation of Namibian and South African diamonds and precious minerals now incorporates the UN (United Nations) in the greatest price-fixing cartel ever.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Oppenheimer laws on diamonds should be dismantled and brought in line with other goods on the open market so that all buyers have the opportunity to bid and thus obtain a realistic market price.\u00a0\u00a0It is in the public interest and long overdue that independent news media investigate these allegations and shed international light on these crimes (and other linked crimes ; for example, the bombing of the United Nations office in Outjo, Namibia, and the murder of Advocate Anton Lubowski, in 1989). \u00a0The United Nations\/Security Council\u2019s first obligation to Namibia is an investigation into the bombing of its office in Outjo, Namibia where one person was killed, and during the escape of the perpetrators a policeman was killed. <\/span><\/p>\n
